“This is the best moment in the 80 years of our relations to take a leap forward and gain new momentum for a comprehensive cooperation relationship in all areas,” the Bolivarian leader told Putin.
For his part, Putin emphasized that this year also marks the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations: “Our trade has increased by 64% and we hope it will continue to grow. We are satisfied with the development of our relations.”
The Russian leader also remembered former President Hugo Chavez: “He was a colorful leader not only for his country, but for all of Latin America. He was undoubtedly our friend. You are now continuing his work, and we wish you all the luck in the world,” Putin told Maduro.
The Bolivarian leader affirmed that, thanks to the treaty signed today, Russia-Venezuela relations will flourish in the coming years, following the principles and ideals they have had since their inception, marked by the thinking of Simon Bolivar and Commander Chavez.
“We are happy to share this great date with you and commemorate the victory of the Great Patriotic War as our own victory,” Maduro stressed, affirming once again that if it weren’t for the Red Army and its sacrifice, humanity and Europe would not have been saved.
